Experience

14 years as professional tutor for Science, Math and introduction to Coding. 1-on-1 and small groups. Total number of students tutored: over 150. Experience teaching students with mental disabilities such as ADHD and dyscalculia. Youngest student: 5 years old (tutoring was science enrichment at an age appropriate level with lots of experiments) Oldest student: 47 years old Most of my students come from the MYP/IB program, many also from the Swiss Matu/Bac track and the German Abitur program. Occasionally I also helped working professionals to improve their skills. I not only teach the subjects by explaining and reinforcing it with practice problems, but also how to learn. It helps the students to get better organized and take better notes using, for example, the Feynman technique, the Cornell note taking system for lectures or the SQ3R technique to effectively extract and remember knowledge from books. This brings long lasting effects and removes a lot of exam preparation stress. I am trilingual, speaking English, French and German at about the same level.

Hobbies

Among others: Reading, software development, learning about new ways to teach such as the Socratic method. Occasionally I enjoy tinkering with DIY electronics, or metal and woodworking. I was able to integrate some soldering projects into the lessons of some of my students to show the applicability of the science skills they learned.
